Key Background
Virginia Housing CEO Tammy Neale was named to the 2025 Women in Leadership list by Virginia Business, an award given to high- achieving women who break glass ceilings as business leaders. The award annually recognizes outstanding leaders who parade advanced achievement, communal leadership, and devotion to developing unborn leaders.
Tammy Neale became Chief Executive Officer of Virginia Housing in March 2024, after a long and distinguished company career. Serving for more than four decades, Neale has been a driving force in the strategic development, partnerships, and community impact plans of Virginia Housing. Under her leadership as CEO, she directs operational and strategic initiatives that advance the organization’s goal of delivering quality affordable housing to communities throughout the Commonwealth.
Before being appointed to the CEO role, Neale was Chief of Programs responsible for homeownership, rental programs, community outreach, and federal fund administration. As CEO of these portfolios, Virginia Housing expanded its scope and influence, especially in underserved communities. Her frugality and willingness to be flexible have attracted housing and nonprofit communities’ respect.
When she was presented with the Women in Leadership award, Neale remarked that the award validated the shared vision and collaboration. The award was credited to Neale by the collective effort of Virginia Housing associates in securing stable and affordable housing for thousands of Virginians.
Virginia Housing, a sustainable enterprise that funds its operations from capital markets rather than tax dollars, continues to lead in financing housing solutions. The organization keeps going under Neale’s leadership to develop affordable, accessible, and inclusive housing solutions. The October awards event in Richmond will recognize Neale’s work alongside other women leaders who are shaping Virginia’s future. The award also focuses on women’s leadership and how it has an impact on transforming industries.
