Background:
A Tameside-based business owner has gained national recognition after winning a top honour at this year’s Female Business Awards, a UK-wide initiative celebrating outstanding female-led small businesses.
Grania Nesbitt, founder of MCR Content Studios, was named Winner of the Creative Business category at a gala ceremony held in Manchester on November 14. In addition to the main award, she was also announced as runner-up in the Business Support category, marking a strong double achievement on the night.
The Female Business Awards attracted more than 800 nominations across 16 categories, highlighting innovation, leadership and impact among women entrepreneurs from across the UK. According to Hazel Woodward, co-founder of the awards, judges evaluated nominees on factors such as marketing strategy, client feedback, creativity, innovation and overall passion for their work.
Confirming the win, Woodward said the recognition reflects the positive influence Nesbitt is making within her sector, noting that finalists demonstrated high standards of service, strong client satisfaction and meaningful business impact.
Speaking after the ceremony, Nesbitt described the award as a proud milestone, coming just over 18 months after launching her business.
“Winning this award is a real privilege and a recognition of the work that has gone into building MCR Content Studios,” she said. “I’m especially proud of the number of female entrepreneurs we’ve supported, not only through content creation but by helping them feel confident and comfortable sharing their stories.”
MCR Content Studios operates as a female-focused creative hub, offering photography and video services tailored to women-led brands.
Reflecting on the awards evening, Nesbitt added that being surrounded by more than 170 female business owners was a memorable experience.
Janine Friston, co-host of the Female Business Awards and founder of the Female Business Network, said the event is designed to acknowledge the unique challenges women face in business.
“Many of these women balance multiple responsibilities while still building successful ventures,” she said. “Their dedication and achievements deserve to be celebrated.”
Following the national recognition, Nesbitt hopes the award will help her reach new audiences and expand MCR Content Studios, enabling her to support even more entrepreneurs across Greater Manchester and beyond.
