Background :

As South Africa faces a 42.6% unemployment rate in the third quarter of 2025, entrepreneur Florence Maziko is introducing a community-driven solution through her on-demand delivery platform, SendMePls.

Maziko positions the app as more than a traditional delivery service. She describes it as a decentralised ecosystem built to serve both suburbs and townships equally, without limiting users to selected retail partners. The platform allows customers to book rides, send parcels, arrange errands across multiple stores, purchase essentials, send gifts, and even set custom shopping budgets, all within one system.

“We want to remove restrictions,” Maziko says. “If it can legally be bought and delivered, we can assist.”

The platform simplifies daily tasks while creating earning opportunities for local residents. Maziko built a network of Personal Shoppers and Runners made up of bicycle riders, scooter drivers and car owners. By allowing different types of vehicles, the company lowers the barrier to entry for those seeking income.

Runners can earn up to R8,000 per month and choose their own working hours. The model welcomes students, parents and young people who want flexible work without strict experience requirements. According to Maziko, the company values reliability, willingness to learn and a strong work ethic.

SendMePls supports its services with real-time tracking and a PIN-based delivery system to ensure secure transactions. Customers can select standard, express or scheduled delivery options depending on urgency.

The company is currently in its proof-of-concept phase and plans to launch a public beta in March across Gauteng, Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. The rollout will include township areas such as Soweto, Tembisa, Umlazi and Khayelitsha, alongside suburban communities. The beta phase will feature 2,000 promotional trips.

Available on the Apple App Store and WhatsApp, SendMePls plans to expand nationwide. Maziko says she cares more about making a real difference than just growing fast.

Despite the tough economy, she is creating opportunities where they are needed most.
